Pokémon Go now features Cosmog. As players advance through A Cosmic Companion, the main Season of Light plot, they can catch it as the featured Pokémon. When the Season of Light begins in your area, you will receive this special research series of missions. When you complete the first job, Cosmog is the first Pokémon you get. Does Cosmog have a shiny form in Pokémon Go?
From what we can determine, it appears that players won't be able to capture a shiny variant of Cosmog in the mobile game. Since Cosmog is making its debut right now, Niantic usually releases the shiny version of a new Pokémon. At this point, we shouldn't anticipate it. In the A Cosmic Companion Special Research mission, Cosmog is a guaranteed encounter, so players don't have to spend anything to get it.
This will be the Pokémon's initial form. Later on, this will transform into Lunala or Solgaleo. To complete this, you will need enough Cosmog candy, which can be obtained through the Season of Light Special Research progression over the course of several rare candies. We're placing our chips on Solgaleo as the better of the two options. However, special research is required in order for Cosmog to evolve, so you will need to take further action.
We don't know if Cosmog will show up in upcoming events or if players will be able to find the flashy form if it does. The shiny form of this might be treated by Niantic as if it were a Mythical Pokémon whose availability is limited to specific events and special research.
