How to beat Surtr in Tribes of Midgard
All Surtr attacks
Surtr will emerge from the lava pools below and appear on the battlefield shortly after being called. You can attack him when he emerges from the lava, but he usually brings his hands together and strikes you in the middle to start the battle. From here, a huge row of flames will spread outward until it reaches the back. To evade this strike, we advise moving to the right or left side. These will be your main targets to hit and hurt Surtr because that is where he will place his hands.
Keep an eye on the two smaller pits to the left and right of the main aisle. On rare occasions, these will overflow with lava and call forth fire totems. You should always try to eliminate these totems. When Surtr raises his hands and starts waving them about, be alert for an attack. You can see the edges of where the fire that he summons to the arena will appear when he accomplishes this. These will move about the arena, so you'll have to avoid them while attempting to hurt Surtr.
Surtr occasionally lifts a single arm and slams it down on one of the sides. This assault resembles the one in the center where he uses both hands, but it only affects one side. When he does this, send a teammate to attack the opposing hand and deal lots of damage to him. These are his most frequent offenses. When he is at half health, he can either pick up his sword and strike the entire side on the left or right of the arena, or he can lower his head to the center of the stage to fire a powerful attack along his aisle. These usually happen when you're almost about to vanquish him.
Best weapons against Surtr
Frost-based weapons or bows are the most effective weapons to employ against Surtr. The greatest option might be a bow in the secondary weapon slot because you can keep hitting Surtr while he is charging an attack. Most of his strikes in his arena require you to adjust your position, but if he still possesses a bow, he will stay in range. A light-based weapon, such as a hammer or bow, can also be used to heal oneself and allies without the need for potions throughout the fight.
