Final Fantasy XIV: How to perform music as a bard

With four expansions and hundreds of hours of gameplay in the main plot alone, Final Fantasy XIV is a content juggernaut. There are just three physically ranged classes available, compared to a total of 20 DPS types. You have the option of choosing to be a dancer, mechanic, or bard if you want to do something other than magic while remaining in a safe(r) area away from the boss. Each class differs from the others in terms of abilities, weapons, and game techniques. However, one class stands out from the rest.

Only one of these classes is useful when not engaged in active battle. The game's Bard class is the only one that lets you perform musical acts when you're not engaged in combat. You want to sing a song at an aetheryte. So you need to go pick up Archer now. The Final Fantasy XIV bard system is as follows:

The path to becoming a bard

Do not worry if you did not begin as a bard; you can go to Gridania to unlock the class. Like all other classes in the game, you can unlock a job if you level your archer character up to level 30. You can become a bard in the archer's guild in Gridania, where you can also unlock the soul stone that grants you access to the class's best feature: music time.

The Performance System

The Performance System, which is only available to bards, enables you to utilize your keyboard or controller to play a variety of notes on various instruments. You have a choice of 28 instruments to experiment with, including harps, pianos, lutes, saxophones, cellos, bass drums, clarinets, and more. Open your menu's Actions & Traits box, then select the Performance tab on the left to access these tools. Drag and drop an instrument onto your Hotbar to start playing it. When you choose the instrument, a metronome and a universal piano UI appear, allowing you to choose notes and keep time.

Square Enix has some limitations, but you are free to produce any song you desire. The development team has requested that players not use music from third parties when sharing their performances with others online. Any music that Square Enix has licensed, like the official Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack, is generally acceptable. Additionally, you may look up sheet music online for the songs you want to play and discover a ton of annotated versions from other musicians.
