The most recent action survival horror game from Capcom, Resident Evil Village, received positive reviews and increased public appeal for the genre as a whole. The protagonist of the game is Ethan Winters, who keeps escaping unbelievable situations involving imminent death just for fate to go "hold my beer" and hurl more at him. He has become a tragic yet iconic figure in the Resident Evil mythos, but for a long time, the only available viewpoint was first-person, which marked a significant departure from the norm for Resident Evil games. However, there are methods for switching to the third-person mode in Resident Evil Village. Continue reading to learn more!
How to Turn on Third Person Mode in Resident Evil Village
The Third Person Mode will shortly be added as a toggleable option in the next Winters Expansion DLC, which will be released on October 28, 2022, even though it is not currently enabled. For PC players, there have been unauthorized mods that have come and gone, but this build will be totally functional. Players will be able to experience the village much like they did in the most recent remakes of Resi 2 and 3. However, it will also give a better showcase of the action and animations of you and your opponents. Some critics may claim that this lessens the intimate sense of horror you, as the protagonist, feel and reduces the immersion you may have had without being able to see Ethan's face.
You'll also gain the following with the Winters Expansion, in addition to the Third Person mode:
- The Bloody River and Bloody Village stages, along with Chris Redfield, Alcina Dimitrescu, and Karl Heisenberg, are all new additions to The Mercenaries.
- Shadows of Rose: A new narrative in which Rose Winters, Ethan's daughter, is an adult, is playable from a third-person vantage point, and in which she finds the surviving remains of the Black God, the fungus that is largely to blame for the horrors that have been brought on in the village. She tries to use this to stop her hidden powers from coming out, but in doing so, she sets off a chain reaction of nightmares that she has to get through.
You'll be glad to know that if you pre-order the Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which includes the Winters Expansion, Trauma Pack DLC, access to RE: Verse, and even other limited goods, you can play Resident Evil Village for the first time.
