It shouldn't need to be emphasized, but slamming a basketball is enjoyable. A significant component of the game, dunks have produced a number of memorable moments in NBA history that continue to this day. NBA 2K23 allows players to simulate this by dunking. You'll need to be familiar with the controls in order to do that, though. Let's dive into it all because there are some new things to know about dunks in NBA 2K23.
NBA 2K23 dunk technique
When performing a slam in NBA 2K23, move your player toward the hoop with the left stick while pressing RT (Xbox)/R2 (PlayStation). From there, the player you are playing will perform a two-handed slam if you move and hold the right stick upward. In NBA 2K23, you can do a few additional dunks, such as a dominant dunk or a showy dunk. The controls are as follows:
- Dominant (or off-hand) dunk: Press RT/R2 + move and hold the right stick up to the left or right in close range to perform a dominant (or off-hand) slam (the direction of the right stick determines dunking hand).
- Aggressive skill dunk: Press RT/R2 + move, drive in close range (with left stick), hold the right stick down, release right stick to complete the dunk. Make sure you release the meter at the very top.
The NBA 2K23 development team also upgraded the Pro Stick's controls. Here are the additional inputs to the right stick while driving and holding RT/R2, along with what they each do:
- UP: Two-Hand
- RIGHT: Strong Hand
- LEFT: Weak Hand
- DOWN: Rim Hang
- UP-UP: Flashy Two-Hand
- DOWN-UP: Flashy One-Hand
- UP-DOWN: Normal Skill Dunk with meter
- DOWN-DOWN: Rim Hang Skill Dunk with meter
