How to fix the Bonelab OpenXR error

Fortunately, the developers have already acknowledged and taken steps to fix the ongoing problem with the OpenXR error in Bonelab. The ways to fix the problem are explained below, and one of the developers wrote a Reddit post with the answer.

  • While the headset is connected, launch SteamVR.
  • Select Show Advanced Settings after going to SteamVR Settings.
  • Last but not least, go to Developer Settings and make sure that SteamVR is selected under Current OpenXR Runtime. If not, choose the option by hand.

The above instructions should prevent the OpenXR error from happening. Although the problem might not even show up when the Current OpenXR Runtime option is set to the default value, if it does, switch to Steam VR. You might also want to reinstall the game to fix any broken files or settings that you changed by accident.
