Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed: What do Spores, Mold, and Fungi do?

Many different types of spores, mold, and fungi are likely to be found on every map in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. When you pick them up, it can be a little unclear what they are for. Even though it has nothing to do with the current match, it's still a good idea to pick them up anytime you see them. The spores, mold, and fungi in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed behave as follows.

Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed: What do Spores, Mold, and Fungi do?

What are Spores, Mold, and Fungi for in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed?

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, spores, mold, and fungi do not significantly alter the game for you, but they are still useful to acquire. When you become a Ghostbuster, they will be left lying around for you to pick up.

They serve only as a collectible and have no impact on the game you are playing. Having said that, picking them up does grant you profile experience, and accumulating a specific number over time will result in significant experience benefits. You can see how near you are to the subsequent reward outside of Eddy's room at the upper level of the fire station.

The Spores, Mold and Fungi collection is more of a tribute to the late Harold Ramis's character Egon Spengler, who says in the first Ghostbusters movie that one of his hobbies is "collecting spores, mold, and fungus," than it is meant to have much of an impact on the game overall. These pick-up objects seem to have been included in the game as a sort of tribute to the actor who passed away in 2014. The Ghostbusters are said to be studying these objects in-game, but nothing ever comes of it.
