Modern Warfare 2: How to filter game modes

A collection of game modes is presented in rows under the Play tab on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 main menu screen. The featured game modes are usually in the top row, and they always contain quick play. Instead of requiring you to first choose a mode and then wait for a game in that mode to become available, in Quick Play mode the game will automatically add you to the first game that becomes available.

One of nine multiplayer game modes, including Team Deathmatch, Free-for-All, Domination, Search and Destroy, Headquarters, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Prisoner Rescue, and Knock Out, can be selected as your default setting for Quick Play. You can filter the Quick Play game modes, though, so that you are only ever added to games of the types you enjoy if there are one or more that you never wish to play.

How to filter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's Quick Play game modes

The Play tab of the main menu should be active when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launches. If not, simply select the Play tab by clicking on it or by pressing R1 or L1. Then, without choosing Play, highlight Quick Play in the Featured row of the game mode playlist. Instead, open the Quick Play Filter panel by clicking on Filter or by pressing Square/X.

On this screen, game modes that can be filtered out have no green check mark, while those that can be added to in Quick Play are marked with a green check. To check or uncheck each game option, hit Triangle or Y, or select/deselect all from the menu. Once you return to the main screen, selecting Quick Play will only return matches for the modes you checked.
