Overwatch 2: Should you use a controller or keyboard and mouse?

The degree to which you enjoy a game depends greatly on how you play it. While there will always be supporters of keyboard and mouse or controllers in every game, there is almost always a superior choice available. Here is our suggestion for a better option if you are playing Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2: Should you use a controller or keyboard and mouse?

Should you play Overwatch 2 with a controller or a keyboard and mouse?

In all honesty, your choice of whether to use a keyboard and mouse or a controller to play Overwatch 2 should depend on how comfortable you are using each input method. We advise choosing that if you prefer first-person shooters with a gamepad and have only ever played video games on home consoles. The preferable choice is for you if you are used to playing with a keyboard and mouse. If you are uncomfortable, forcing yourself to try the other option will always result in lower production.

The keyboard and mouse will be the preferable options in Overwatch 2 if you are somewhat skilled with either method. The point-and-click aspect of that control system often results in higher targeting accuracy when it comes to first-person shooters. Using thumbsticks for that simply takes longer and increases your chance of missing your goal. Having said the foregoing, Overwatch 2 is compatible with controllers, even on PC, so if you like to play with a controller in your hand, you can connect your preferred PlayStation or Xbox controller and immediately feel at home.

You are essentially forced to use a controller if you're playing Overwatch 2 on a console, especially in Competitive. Even though the game can be played on both PC and console, anyone using a keyboard and mouse on the console version could be suspended or even banned for giving themselves an unfair advantage in the console pool.
