According to Razer, the Zephyr N95 face mask sold out in minutes

Razer's eye-catching N95 face mask sold out within minutes of being on sale. The firm announced the news on Twitter on Thursday evening, disappointing many who had hoped to get their hands on the one-of-a-kind protective face covering.

“The demand for the Razer Zephyr has been overwhelming and our first wave is sold out within minutes,” the gaming hardware giant said in a tweet, adding: “Stay tuned and [we] appreciate your patience as we work hard to restock them as fast as we can. Sign up to be notified when the next batch arrives.”

However, the unexpected news is already raising eyebrows among those who were considering placing an order, with many people questioning how many masks were available at launch.

Many people protested about the sale in response to Razer's tweet, with one individual requesting that any successful buyers submit a screenshot of their transaction. No one had commented as of the time of writing.

Digital Trends has contacted Razer to inquire about the number of masks available at launch, and we will update this piece if we hear back. In January, Razer showed an early version of the high-tech Zephyr mask at CES 2021, calling it "the world's smartest mask."

Along with N95 protection, Razer's Zephyr mask has two "air exchange chambers" — or fans — that allow filtered air to flow freely for increased comfort, but the fans may be turned off if you choose.

It also has a transparent front so that people can see more of your facial expressions, as well as an anti-fog coating and inside light to ensure that you can see well at all times.

The mask's exterior features Chroma RGB lighting to brighten gloomy locations and surprise passers-by, with all of the mask's features controlled via a special smartphone app.

If you're willing or able to order one, the Zephyr mask will cost you $99, with replaceable N95 filters costing $29 for a box of ten. You could also just get a standard N95 mask.
