Don't Starve and Terrarria, two popular indie survival games, are trading monsters as part of a Halloween crossover. With a video captioned, "Just a bit of news, no big deal," the Terraria account on Twitter announced that the two games would be trading elements. The accompanying video showed Terraria's Eye of Cthulhu intruding into Don't Starve's world, much to Wilson's consternation.

Klei, the creator of Don't Starve, responded with his own captioned video. Deerclops from Don't Starve was seen stomping through a blizzard-filled Terraria landscape in the short teaser clip. The accompanying caption reads, "Oops, I think we mixed something up somewhere." "Oh well, I'm sure it'll all work out by the end of the month."

While both monsters' appearances have changed as a result of the swap, they still look good. Although Cthulhu's eye appears to have lost a blood vessel or two, and Deerclops appears to be a little more pixel-y around the edges, both monsters are well-suited to their new environments and what appears to be a brief sojourn in unknown places.

The news of the crossover comes after Terraria developer Re-Logic recently informed fans that the game was still in development. According to Destructoid, the developer posted to Terraria's Steam page to inform fans that the game is being optimized for Steam Deck. That work is "going quite well," according to the update, which should please those hoping to pick it up on the handheld after launch.

Terraria's 1.4 Journey's End update was released last month for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players. The update brought a slew of new features to the game, including Master and Journey modes, as well as new enemies, biomes, and other goodies. Check out our dedicated Terraria page on IGN for the most up-to-date tips, tricks, and guides for the game - who knows, you might even find something that helps you fend off a Deerclops.
