Kim Kardashian pays $23 million to Kanye West for the Hidden Hills estate they shared before their divorce
Home is where the heart is. According to court records obtained by Us Weekly, Kim Kardashian is now the sole owner of the Hidden Hills house she bought with her separated husband Kanye West for their family in 2014.
Kardashian, 40, paid $23 million for West's half of the mansion after purchasing it with her estranged spouse, 44, shortly after their 2014 wedding. The couple bought the house for $20 million at the time and proceeded to completely remodel it. Kardashian paid $23 million for the house, $20 million for the land, and the remaining $3 million for the furnishings, which included art and furniture.
North, 8, Saint, 5, Chicago, 3, and Psalm, 2, were born in the Skims founder's home, which was constructed by the rapper. Since 2018, West has been making visits between his Los Angeles home and his Wyoming ranch, and he plans to spend the most of 2020 there.
After nearly seven years of marriage, the reality personality filed for divorce earlier this year. Following their breakup, a source informed Us that Kardashian would be staying in their Hidden Hills home in Calabasas, California, which is close to the rest of her famous family.
“She has made her life there and it’s her kids’ main home,” the insider noted in March. “There was never a question — Kim was going to keep the home.”
West, for his part, remained at his ranch in Cody, Wyoming, which he unexpectedly put on the market on Monday, October 11.
The beauty mogul earlier stated that the musician's move to the 3,888-acre estate was one of the reasons for the estranged couple's split.
“I just honestly can’t do this anymore. Why am I still in this place where I’m stuck for years?” she said in a June episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “Like, he goes and moves to a different state every year. I have to be, like, together so I can raise the kids.”
Kardashian added: “I can’t do that. He should have a wife that supports his every move and travels with him and does everything, and I can’t. I feel like a f–king failure. It’s my third f–king marriage. Yeah, I feel like a f–king loser. But I can’t even think about that. I want to be happy.”
Despite the fact that West wants to sell his ranch for $11 million, a reported $3 million more than what he bought, the Georgia native still owns a larger property in the region. In November 2019, West paid $14.5 million for the 6,700-acre second ranch.
While the exes focus on dividing their assets, a source recently told Us that Kardashian and West will maintain a platonic relationship while coparenting their children.
“They have a more of a friendship and working relationship as they coparent,” the source told Us this month. “They’re not back together.”
