MrBeast is letting fans build a Squid Game challenge For a big YouTube Event
MrBeast, a YouTube sensation, is introducing his own Squid Game adaption to the platform. He's asking the community for new challenge ideas to keep the contestants on their toes. Squid Game, a popular Korean drama, has swept the internet. Almost everyone is trying to cash in on the viral success of Netflix's biggest series premiere in history.
The Squid Game craze isn't going away anytime soon, with TikTok challenges, early YouTube recreations, and even a video game in the works.
However, YouTube phenomenon MrBeast's take on the battle royale-style show is likely the most anticipated. It's officially on when he set a goal of 10 million likes for his supporters - and then exceeded it in just a few hours. MrBeast is already planning a major Squid Game competition, complete with life-size sets and "456 random people."
However, before filming begins, MrBeast has requested assistance from the community.
MrBeast is concerned that his contestants will have all seen Squid Game due to the Netflix series' success. As a result, they'll know what to do and how to win when the problems arise.
“What do I do?” he asked in an October 17 Twitter thread. “How should I do the tug of war game?”
Other content makers and fans alike quickly chimed in with their own proposals. While the majority only wished to be invited to the competition, a few offered some useful suggestions.
One follower recommended a different approach than organising their own teams ahead of time. "Make it a blind matching or a raffle." This could prevent clubs from stockpiling the 'best' players, ensuring that the game is played fairly.
"Do capture the flag with teams of ten instead of tug of war," one enthusiast suggested. With everyone gearing up for tug of war, the shock of learning it'll be a test of speed rather than strength will hit them like a tonne of bricks.
Others, on the other hand, proposed that MrBeast's YouTube event take a completely other path. His responsibilities could be inspired by other childhood games rather than copying the obstacles from season one.
“I figured you can come up with your own set of games,” fellow content creator rhymestyle said. “It doesn’t necessarily have to be the same games from the show.”
“What if you create new games?” others followed up. “It’s your own version of Squid Game, do what you want.”
MrBeast informed his fans that he had "figured it out" after only a few minutes of turning the community go.
He hinted, "This is going to be wild."
It's impossible to say what idea he came up with or when we'll see it implemented. MrBeast hinted that filming could take “a month” in total, despite the fact that the production cost over $2 million, making it his “most costly video.” Like MrBeast builds YouTube's own Squid Games video as only he can, expect plenty more teasers along the road.
