Final Fantasy VII Remake PS5 upgrade being extended to PS Plus version
It's rare for games to not offer an upgrade route in the present era of seamless upgrades between console generations. Even if there is a small fee, there is usually a method to upgrade to the shinier version without paying the full price. This assumption has been confounded by services like PlayStation Plus, but thankfully, the PS Plus version of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be added to the increasing list of upgradable titles.
Starting on Wednesday, everybody who purchased the Final Fantasy VII remake through PlayStation Plus will be able to download the PS5 version for free. Of course, having an active PS Plus subscription is required to play the game. You'll be able to enjoy the most refined version of the critically praised remake if you have that. In addition, the Yuffie DLC is available at a reduced price for a short period.
This news comes on the heels of a contentious PC port, which members of tech newspaper Digital Foundry dubbed "one of the worst AAA PC ports in recent memory." This isn't the first time Square Enix has been chastised by Final Fantasy fans in the year 2021.
Many fans were disappointed when it was revealed that the PlayStation Plus version will not include an upgrade prior to the arrival of the PlayStation 5 earlier this year.
Starting this Wednesday...
