Final Fantasy XIV: How to get Umbral Totems

You'll be ready to try to gain Umbral Totems for your character when you reach the end of the game in Final Fantasy XIV's Endwalker expansion. These Totems are required to unlock the last components of your character's equipment, allowing you to use some of the best goods available at the time. We'll go over everything you need to do to earn Umbral Totems and how to get them in Final Fantasy XIV in this guide.

The Minstrel's Ballard: Hydaelyn's Call is the only way to get Umbral Totems. It's one of the two Extreme Trials available once you've completed the game. By chatting with the Wandering Minstrel NPC, you can gain access to this Trial. They can be found at coordinates in Old Sharlayan (X:12.7, Y:14.1). They are only accessible after finishing Endwalker's last Main Story Quest. After speaking with them and sharing your stories of overcoming Zodiark and Hydaelyn, severe trials become available.

Hydaelyn's Call, on the other hand, will only be available to characters with a level 90 Job. It's also suggested that they join the Trial with an average item level of at least 560. You can get there by earning Moonward gear and progressing through the level 90 dungeons and Daily Duty roulettes you unlock.  

After you've completed the trial and won, you'll earn Umbral Totems. They are not eligible for a roll.
