Genshin Impact 2.4 update: Confirms New Character With Game Awards Trailer

Developer miHoYo released a new Genshin Impact gameplay clip at the 2021 Game Awards. Gorou, Arataki Itto, Naganohara Yoimiya, and Sanganomiya Kokomi were among the newer characters included in the trailer. The majority of the trailer showed gameplay from Gorou and Itto, who will both join the Genshin Impact lineup with the December 15 2.3 release.

The trailer appears to reveal two important details, the first of which is the introduction of a new boss. The four protagonists, especially Gorou and Itto, are seen fighting an unexpected boss-type enemy. It's a flying snake with a wolf-like head, and the black and gold coloration strongly suggests a Geo-type boss. That would also explain why it was taken down by two Genshin Impact Geo characters. If this new monster is a Geo adversary, it will join the Geo Hypostasis and Primo Geovishap as the game's third Geo boss.

The trailer's second announcement is one that fans are already anticipating. The trailer is only one minute and 39 seconds long, with a special teaser in the last 19 seconds. It only shows a young woman slowly turning toward the camera with dark hard and red makeup. The video's title, "Genshin Impact - Yun Jin Gameplay Reveal Trailer," discloses her identity, yet the title is deceptive because no Yun Jin gameplay is shown.

While this is a significant announcement, it is not miHoYo's first appearance of the future character Yun Jin. On November 22, her official character art was published on Genshin Impact's official Instagram account. Yun Jin's origin and personality, as well as his vision type and looks, were disclosed in this post. Yun Jin's Instagram announcement was accompanied by that of the new Cryo character Shenhe, yet Shenhe was absent from the trailer for the Genshin Impact Game Awards.

Yun Jin, also known as Stage Lucida, is a Geo character with a polearm. She is a resident of Liyue Harbor and the director of the Yun-Han Opera Troupe, making her a powerful figure in Liyue. Some fans question if her gameplay will be similar to Barbara's, who also sings because she appears to have musical and vocal talent.

Gorou and Arataki Itto, both Geo and the two most recent additions to the character roster, are examples of MiHoYo's current trend of producing characters with Geo visions. Yun Jin will become the game's eighth Geo vision possessor, making Geo more prevalent than both Anemo and Hydro. She'll be the seventh polearm wielder, and fans are curious to see how she compares to Zhongli, who wields both a polearm and a Geo power.
