Sea of Thieves: How to get the Hunting Boat Commendation

In Sea of Thieves, you must defeat 25 adversaries with a Cannon Rowboat to earn the Hunting Boat Commendation. Go to the Pirate Log in the menu, pick Reputation, Bilge Rats, and then Buried Treasures to see how far you've progressed in this Commendation. On the first page, Hunting Boat will be in the center of the bottom row. This tutorial will teach you how to complete the Commendation and will help you with strategies.

Look for a Cannon Rowboat.

Cannon Rowboats were introduced in Season Five of Sea of Thieves. They look like regular rowboats except for the fact that they have a Cannon placed on the front. Cannon Rowboats, like Rowboats, will spawn at random on islands throughout the map (except Outposts and Seaports).

You can either sail around the map and look for Cannon Rowboats on island coastlines, or you can steal one from another crew. Once you've obtained one, row around to the back of your ship and select the Dock Rowboat prompt to dock your Cannon Rowboat to your ship. It depends on the way the boat is facing when you dock it whether it docks with the Cannon on the left or right side.

Defeat 25 Enemies

It doesn't matter which sort of opponent you kill to earn the Hunting Boat Commendation, so shoot Skeletons, Sirens, Ocean Crawlers, enemy Players, and so on. The safest place to fire is at the back of your ship, where the Cannon Rowboat is moored. Undocking the Cannon Rowboat makes you a susceptible target, and if there's no one to hold the brakes while you row, you'll have to deal with knockback when you shoot. There are two simple tactics for killing opponents:

• For PvE – Do an Order of Souls Bounty Voyage or any other quest that will spawn a considerable number of enemies. Have one of your crewmates gather them on the shore, or get them yourself and rush back to the ship's Cannon Rowboat. Shoot the opponents as they group together from the Cannon Rowboat. Rinse and repeat as needed.

• For PvP - Although it may be risky, attempt to establish friends with other players in Sea of Thieves. If you're comfortable with it, use voice chat or text chat to interact, and offer to assist them with getting their Commendation. If they agree, simply shoot and kill each other with the Cannon Rowboat until the Commendation is completed.
