Genshin Impact: All you need to know about Collei

In the official Genshin Impact manga, Collei is a manga-only character. As a result, she has never appeared in any form in the game (at least by January 2022). Keep in mind that this article will only include her appearances in canonical manga, not non-canon. Before we get into the spoilers, it's important noting that Collei is one of the official manga's key characters. In addition, the English edition of the manga lags behind some of the other languages, thus part of the content is hidden beneath translations.

Who is Collei in Genshin Impact?

Chapter 2: Flame Born introduces this manga-only character (Part 1). On page 10, she appears ill at the entrance gates of Mondstadt. Some guards try to keep her out of the city, worried that whatever ailment she has would spread across Mondstadt. However, she is unconcerned about this when she encounters two Fatui envoys and kills them with a "serpent of fire."

Her animosity toward Fatui stems from her personal relationship with Barnabas, a manga-exclusive character. Barnabas represents Fatui and has used Collei as a test subject for Archon Residue.

Collei's role in the beginning of the Genshin Impact manga

Amber ultimately runs with Collei, who joins her on her journey (much to the latter's chagrin). Collei was sent to Barnabas by her parents in the hopes that he could cure her of her congenital disease, according to the narrative.

Barnabas utilized her for the Archon Residue experiments, according to the manga. Archon Residue can make a person far more powerful than normal, but it comes at the cost of suffering and the inability to control this strength. Thanks to Amber, Collei meets Lisa and Jean of Genshin Impact. She overhears them discussing the library and asks them to go there as well in the hopes of learning more about Barnabas.

For a few episodes, her significance fades as the official Genshin Impact manga focuses on Amber's activities. She later meets Kaeya and, in Chapter 7, ultimately exposes her true identity as Collei. The most important point to remember is that Lisa says she will find someone from Sumeru to decode a paper that Collei wishes to read.

Collei's role in Chapter 10 and beyond of the Genshin Impact manga

Eventually, the viewer sees a scenario from Collei's past in which she is abused as a result of Barnabas' experimentation. It makes a moment at the festival that would otherwise be a filler scene more traumatic for her. Kaeya sends Amber off to do something and attacks Collei while she and Amber are having a nice time.

Kaeya fights Collei in a number of scenes (with several moves he never does in the Genshin Impact game). Before witnessing Amber arrive, Collei eventually dominates Kaeya, prompting her to give up the battle. Amber distracts Kaeya with her famous Baron Bunny before fleeing with Collei.

Collei's actions in the first two acts of the Genshin Impact manga are then discussed by the two of them. Later in the novel, they meet Cyno, a Sumeru-based Genshin Impact character. Collei is elated when he successfully seals off her Archon Residue. Barnabas shows up, which is unfortunate for them. Later, he fights Amber before being badly defeated by her.

Collei thanks Amber for everything and departs with Cyno for Sumeru a short time later. This occurred in the most current chapter of the official Genshin Impact manga, Chapter 16.
