Rainbow Six Extraction: How to complete the Spiker Studies objectives

Spiker Studies is a series of Study objectives in Rainbow Six Extraction's New York City region. Each of the three objectives requires the use of Spikers, which are humanoid Archaeans with spikes on their heads and hands, similar to Grunts. Spikers can shoot spikes out of their hands, whereas Grunts can only employ melee assaults.

How to cover a Spiker with smoke

To cover a Spiker in smoke, equip your Operator of choice with Smoke Grenades, then launch an incursion and search for one. They're quite prevalent and will usually spawn in incursions with a Moderate Threat Level, albeit not in every Sub-Zone. To fulfill this goal, all you have to do is hurl a Smoke Grenade near enough to a Spiker to blanket it in smoke.

How to kill Spikers before they shoot suppressive fire

It's usually preferable to take down a Spiker with a stealth melee attack or a headshot before it even realizes you're there, but if you do, it'll make an easy target of itself by howling for a few seconds. This is your last chance to hit it with a bullet (ideally at its vulnerable spot, the head) before it starts firing spikes. You've missed your chance to get this objective once it starts shooting, so go find another Spiker who isn't alerted.

How to kill Spikers by exploiting their flaws

Because a Spiker's weak point is its head, which is an easy target when the Spiker isn't alert, completing this objective by being covert is the best option. Carefully align your shot with the head of the Spiker, and... bang! This objective will be made more difficult by alerted Spikers shooting at you with their arms in front of their heads. A squadmate can draw the Spiker's fire while you flank it and obtain a shot at the side of its head if you work together.
