Rainbow Six Extraction: How to kill a Sower
In the San Francisco region of Rainbow Six Extraction, the Sower Mitigation set of Study objectives requires you to deal with Sowers and the mines they lay all over every Sub-Zone you encounter them in. They're a little more difficult to destroy than low-level adversaries like Grunts and Spikers, and their mines cause temporary blindness that can be fatal. Below is a step-by-step approach to completing each objective.
How to kill a Sower with its weak point
The weak point of a Sower is its belly, but because Sowers spend most of their time crawling on all fours, their bellies are rarely exposed. They will occasionally pause to look around, squatting erect for a few seconds at a time. When they Howl, they also stand up, thus this is an ideal time to strike the vulnerable spot.
How to kill a Sower before setting off any of its mines
The first criterion of this goal is that you stay away from the Sower's mines. In general, move slowly and carefully, keeping an eye out for red glows and listening for a strange, distorted buzzing sound. Shoot any mines you come across to avoid tripping over them later.
As previously stated, a Sower's weak point can be difficult to target, however, there are other, less difficult ways to kill a Sower. You can stun or blind it with REACT tech and then kill it with a melee Takedown, or you can place Claymores wherever mines are found. Sowers place their mines along predetermined paths, ensuring that it returns to the same locations as long as it is not alerted.
How to destroy Sower mines without setting them off
This is a simple task. Simply shoot them. Even a single bullet from a secondary weapon should suffice. Aim for the dark-colored base rather than the flashing red top.
