Sea of Thieves Servers Are Down And Players Can’t Log In
Sea of Thieves is a famous live service pirate game developed by Microsoft and Rare that allows users to set sail with their friends, search for buried riches, fight skeletons, communicate with enemy players, and more. Because Sea of Thieves is a social game, one may expect it to be busiest on weekends when most people are off work and out of school, yet it appears that many fans of the game are currently unable to play owing to server troubles.
On Saturday, January 8, Sea of Thieves servers were down for several hours and are still offline on Sunday, January 9. The Sea of Thieves server issues began on January 8 in the afternoon, with the official Twitter account recognizing the problem and informing fans that it was being looked into. The Sea of Thieves Info & Support Twitter account sent out another message seven hours later with an update on the situation, however it appears the servers are still offline.
Rare, the creator of Sea of Thieves, said that it is still looking into the matchmaking issues that are preventing players from logging in. Other issues, such as a significant delay in Gold appearing after selling items, were reported by players who were able to play Sea of Thieves or who were already in the game prior to the server issues, and it appears that those issues have been rectified at least. On January 9, Rare hopes to provide an update on the matchmaking issues.
Alabasterbeard is one of the most common error codes that Sea of Thieves players are encountering this weekend while trying to play the game. The Sea of Thieves Alabasterbeard error simply implies that players are unable to connect to the servers, so it's hardly surprising that this is the error code that everyone is seeing. Let's hope Rare can figure out what's causing the problem and solve it soon so Sea of Thieves fans can resume playing the game.
Although Sea of Thieves had a rocky start, it has acquired a devoted following and its reputation has improved in recent years. Rare has continuously updated the game with additional content, including a large Pirates of the Caribbean expansion. More content for Sea of Thieves is continually being developed, with no end in sight.
Despite the fact that Rare is busy creating fresh content for Sea of Thieves, it is also working on new projects. Everwild, Rare's next-gen game, is currently in production, however little of it has been shown as of this writing. At the very least, it wasn't on a Gold & Glory Weekend! We'll keep you updated on any new developments or when the servers are up and running again.
