Destiny 2: How to fix the CAT error code

When players receive an error notice that prevents them from initiating a live service game, one of two things can happen. The problem is frequently obscure and difficult to resolve, and the only option is to wait for the developer to resolve it on their end. The CAT error number indicates that the version of Destiny 2 you're trying to play isn't the same as the current server build. This can happen if you try to play the game without first updating it to the most recent build. When you start up Destiny 2, the game will usually auto-update to the most recent version. The CAT error notice will appear if you try to launch Destiny 2 before the update has finished.

Stop the game and wait for the update to finish to resolve the CAT error number and launch Destiny 2. If Destiny 2 still won't launch, it's conceivable that it's down for server maintenance; in that case, the best (and only) option is to wait until the servers are up and running again.
