Dying Light 2: How to assign Factions

In Dying Light 2, you can earn Faction Structures by leveraging significant infrastructure in Villedor as centers of influence. Faction Structure bonuses exist anytime a facility is assigned to either of the two Factions: Survivors or Peacekeepers. Of course, offending the other Faction may influence the Dying Light 2 storyline. Introducing Factions and the Faction Structures they provide in Dying Light 2.

How assigning factions and city alignment works in Dying Light 2

To permanently assign either the Survivors or Peacekeepers to important facilities in Dying Light 2, Infected or Renegades must be cleared. Water Towers and Electrical Stations are vital to Villedor's survival, which is why both Factions covet them. Water Towers supply the local area with water that can be tapped for on-the-spot healing. Electrical Stations offer power to places, making them safer at night and easier to clear out and activate Metro Stations.

Assigning a facility to a faction also grants that faction authority over the nearby Villedor Zone. For example, giving the Survivors the Horseshoe Water Tower gives them authority over the Horseshoe Zone. When a faction controls a zone, they will build Faction Structures to aid you in your exploration and combat of Villedor. To gain all the benefits of a Faction, you must attach seven facilities to it. Because there are only seven Facilities in Dying Light 2, you must stay loyal to one Faction throughout the game. In Dying Light 2, you can:
  • Horseshoe Water Tower
  • Houndfield Electrical Station
  • Downtown Electrical Station
  • Garrison Electrical Station
  • Wharf Water Tower
  • Saint Paul Electrical Station
  • Saint Paul Water Tower
Assigning Factions to facilities might offer minor benefits like water supplies, extra power, and Faction Structures, but it can also impact the story. Choosing the Horseshoe Water Tower in Dying Light 2 affects who you cooperate with later between the Peacekeepers and the Survivors. Other Villedor Facilities are assigned as part of plot missions, so some may be delayed. Due to the difficulty of parkour, many are locked behind player level and stamina limits. On the map, hover your cursor over the Facility icon to see the requirements.

Some Villedor Zones are pre-assigned to Factions and cannot be changed due to their importance in the storylines. Thus, the Trinity Zone is always under Survivor control, whereas the Quarry End Zone is always under Peacekeeper authority. Only facilities that you can directly designate to a Faction count towards unlocking Faction Structures, regardless of whatever Faction controls them.

Dying Light 2 Survivor and Peacekeeper Faction Structures

Each Faction has seven unlockable Faction Structures. To unlock all seven structures for a specific Faction, you must allocate each facility to that Faction. These constructions are erected in all Zones controlled by the Faction, not just the present one, so they accumulate over time. That means no Peacekeeper Car Bombs and no Survivor Ziplines in the same Zone.
