Elden Ring: How To Beat Godfrey, First Elden Lord
You'll be summoned to visit Queen Marika in Leyndell, the Capitol City, after fighting two Shardbearers and gaining two Great Runes in Elden Ring. After fighting your way across the huge capital, you'll arrive at the Erdtree Sanctuary, where you'll face Godfrey, First Elden Lord. This boss is essential to go farther in Leyndell, and even experienced Souls players will find him difficult.
Godfrey is the First Elden Lord, as his name implies - he's the first chosen demigod, and you can't be an Elden Lord without defeating the previous one, right? Your aim as a Tarnished is to unify the Great Runes and rise to the position of Elden Lord. Only Queen Marika can decide whether or not you are worthy, and she is buried deep beneath the giant Erdtree in the Capitol's heart. The way to her palace will be open if Godfrey is defeated.
Godfrey, First Elden Lord | Great Enemy Guide
After ascending the great palace at the top of the Erdtree roots in Leyndell, Royal Capitol, the golden spirit of Godfrey will ambush you. Godfrey is a ferocious brawler who wields a massive axe.
Godfrey, First Elden Lord | Boss Tips
- Godfrey assaults with broad axe swings. He'll follow up with a stomp on the earth, causing a tremor to occur directly in front of him.
- Godfrey has two attacks that are simple to use. He leaps into the air, slams to the ground, and buries his axe. While he recovers, you'll have a chance to attack. He'll also leave the ground from a standing position, leaving himself vulnerable for a short time until he recovers.
- When he swings his axe straight down, he has a long range. Rolling left / right instead of backwards makes most of his attacks simpler to avoid.
Godfrey, First Elden Lord | Phase 2 Tips
- Godfrey will attack faster and weave longer combos of attacks together until he reaches 50% health. He doesn't change much else in his life. During this phase, summon your Ash Spirits to assist you in taking him out.
- Baiting his leap attack is the simplest approach to defeat him. Attack him when he leaps into the air and slams his axe down, then duck backwards as he tries to follow up. You can launch another attack after avoiding it.
Surviving his tremendous combinations is the most difficult element of this fight. If you are hit once, you must carefully avoid his further assaults or you will be minced meat. You'll get a +1 Talisman Pouch for beating him.
