Elden Ring: How to beat Morgott, the Omen King

You'll have to confront not one, but two bosses once you arrive at Elden Ring's capital, Leyndell. One is Godfrey, the First Lord, whose boss fight, while obligatory, acts as a warm-up for the next challenge: the boss battle with Morgott, the Omen King.

This fight is especially fierce, and despite the fact that it does not have a transformation in the middle, it includes two distinct phases in which Morgott's patterns change slightly but significantly. In Elden Ring, how do you beat Morgott?

Patience and study, as with most monsters in Souls-like games, are essential for victory. Here, your strategy should be fairly straightforward. Assault Morgott from afar so that he can trigger his attack with a light spear.

You'll see him try to jump on you if you dodge this assault with the appropriate timing (it starts after two dagger throws). Roll towards him so you may avoid the attack and strike right away. In this phase, be wary of Morgott's tail, which, like Margit's, has a habit of surprising you and causing considerable damage.

This strategy will get you through the first half of the fight quickly, but if you can't get there, summon one of your spirits, perhaps one to attack the monster from afar. Just remember not to use up all of your FP bars since you'll be able to use your Ashes of War method on the left trigger to deal massive damage whenever a gap appears.

There are two minor modifications in the second half of the battle. The first is the fire puddles strewn over the ground, which can boil over and cause significant damage if you walk over them. The second is a whip-like assault that can wipe you out in one hit — make sure you have full health at all times so you don't die when one of these hits you in the face.

Furthermore, instead of jumping on you, Margott could try to hit you with a running attack after releasing the aforementioned spear of light. You'll still have to avoid, but this time roll towards him rather than to the side. You'll always be ready to counterattack if you do it this way.

If you're having difficulties with this attack, it's worth skipping the first phase (which should be simpler to master on your own) and summoning in the second, so you have more time to land a few bullets following the whip-like attack.

With these strategies, you'll be able to quickly defeat Morgott and earn three separate rewards: the first is Morgott's Remembrance, which you may bring to Finger Reader Enia for unique items and spells, or resell for Runes if these aren't compatible with your class. You'll also receive a Great Rune and 120,000 Runes to invest in your character's growth.
