Horizon Forbidden West: How to beat the Slitherfang
The Slitherfang, a strong machine that can take out Aloy in a few hits, is the first opponent you'll face in Horizon Forbidden West. Fortunately, there is a technique to defeat this monster. After bringing down the space shuttle on its friends, the snake-like machine begins to attack you. Aim your arrows towards the gears on its neck when you initially collide. At this stage in the boss encounter, this is its weak point.
The Slitherfang will start spitting acid at Aloy in revenge. To take cover, hide behind the pebbles strewn across the battlefield. Make sure you don't stand too close to this snake machine because it will swing its tails during the combat. It will lunge at you with its terrible teeth, so keep sliding between the covers.
Look for treasure chests on the ground as you make your way around the arena-like scene. They will provide you with potions, medicinal berries, and other resources to help you keep the war on track.
The Slitherfang will collapse to the ground at some point throughout the combat. This is the ideal time to attack its head with Aloy's spear and inflict further damage. After then, make sure to target the Slitherfang's head components.
A cinematic will play when you've done significant damage to the Slitherfang. You've progressed to the second step. It will begin to move about and try to hit you with its head. Dodging these attacks is the best way to avoid them.
You’ll notice on the floor a weapon that has two electrical panels pouring in blue energy. You can use the creature's own coil blaster against it if you pick it up. These electrical discharges will deal a lot of damage to your opponent, but be wary of the Slitherfang's relentless barrage of tail whips.
The boss will get increasingly desperate as the conflict progresses. Prepare to dodge if you see the Slitherfang's tail ignite since it will launch a large area of effect assault at you. As you approach closer to the end, keep an eye out for the cylinders protruding from its lower breast. They'll be blue and yellow in color. After that, it'll most likely be down to your arrows' final blows.
Congratulations on defeating the powerful Slitherfang! Three Blastpastes, one Sturdy Hardplate, 15 Metalbites, three Braided Wires, and 65 Metal Shards will be your reward for your efforts. You should also collect any other items that may have been beheaded from the snake machine.
