Nintendo Direct 2022: Predictions and How to watch

This week, Nintendo stated that another Nintendo Direct would be held, and fans have speculated on what will be shown on February 9th, 2022. A number of titles, including big new entries into series like Splatoon, Mario Kart, and Xenoblade Chronicles, are expected to be presented on the night.

While we won't know what's in store until the night of the event, it hasn't stopped fans from anticipating it. Here's everything you need to know about the predictions that fans have been making in the lead-up to Nintendo's first Direct in 2022.

Nintendo Direct Predictions

Initially, a YouTuber known as "NateTheHate" predicted what to expect from the Nintendo Direct 2022's first event of the year. The video creator also projected that the next Direct event will take place in early February, and he was correct in his prediction. However, it all comes down to the games that he said earlier in relation to what will be shown on the showcase.

Nintendo is rumored to be working on a "Splatoon" sequel to the franchise, which will allegedly continue the events of "Splatoon 2." In addition, one of the next titles is a new installment in the "Metroid" franchise, which Nintendo is introducing at the Direct 2022 event.

NateTheHate also stated that it will be releasing a new "Donkey Kong" game for gamers to enjoy, however, it is unclear if the game will be in 2D or 3D.

Nintendo is also facing allegations that it may show off a new "Fire Emblem" game at this year's Direct, bringing another legendary title for a sequel release.

For the time being, these are the games that have been included in the Nintendo Direct 2022 event and have been widely leaked, but players do not need to be concerned because the event will be held soon.

What is the Nintendo Direct UK start time today?

From a UK time zone standpoint, today's Nintendo Direct will begin at 10pm GMT - that's the time you'll want to tune in if you're in the UK! It's possible that you'll be awake a little later than normal.

How to watch Nintendo Direct today

What new Nintendo Switch games will be revealed today at Nintendo Direct?

Nintendo promised "approximately 40 minutes of information primarily focused on #NintendoSwitch games releasing in the first half of 2022" in a teaser for tonight's Nintendo Direct on Twitter.

We'd be shocked if The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 made a significant showing today, given the focus on titles that are due out soon. After all, we've been working under the idea that BotW 2 will release a little later.

Square Enix's Triangle Strategy, a tactical battle game that will premiere exclusively for Switch in March 2022, is far more likely to emerge, in our opinion.

Other titles we've been told to expect on Nintendo Switch next month include Chocobo GP, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Rune Factory 5, and Marvel's Midnight Suns, so we wouldn't be surprised if any of them showed up.

The release date for Nintendo's exclusive Kirby and the Forgotten Land game is set for March 25, 2022, so that seems like a natural fit for this show.
