Sea Of Thieves Shrouded Islands Adventure: Hexing Skull, Braziers, And More
The Sea of Thieves Adventures is now available. Join your crew and go on new story objectives in Rare's pirate sandbox in this limited-time story-driven mode, learning fresh details in Captain Flameheart's continuing resurrection while also nabbing a few rare rewards for yourself. We'll lead you through the entire tale for the first "Adventure" (which is confusingly found in Adventure mode despite the fact that they're not the same thing) in this guide. In Sea of Thieves, here's how to finish Shrouded Islands.
Shrouded Islands walkthrough
Because enemy encounters scale to the size of your crew, the complete Shrouded Islands Adventure will take you roughly 90 minutes regardless of team size. If the first Adventure is any indication of what we may expect from this new limited-time feature in the future, Adventures appear to be shorter Tall Tales designed to captivate players for a limited time rather than being permanent in the game.
1. Speak to Larinna
Your quest to learn why phantoms are becoming more prevalent across Sea of Thieves begins at any outpost. Outside the tavern, speak with Larinna and select the choice to begin your quest. She'll point you in the direction of Golden Sands Outpost.
2. Go to Golden Sands Outpost and get the Mysterious Compass.
Go to Golden Sands, which is now surrounded by an eerie green fog, which is made even creepier by the game's dynamic music. Take the Mysterious Compass from the table near the entrance of the damaged tavern. You won't have to worry about losing it because it'll be added to your radial menu for the duration of the adventure.
3. Use the compass to locate Belle.
The compass will always take you to Belle, and while she has a few spawn sites, it's better to head to Crescent Isle, which is just one island away. Dock cautiously, as it, too, is shrouded in dense green fog, a sign that The Damned have risen, and keep following your unique compass until it leads you to Belle. Choose to continue the quest in the dialogue options, and she'll direct you to Shipwreck Bay.
Take the Flame of Souls from Belle's brazier and transfer it to your own personal lantern. Do not depart without completing this task. You should also replace the lanterns on your ship with the Flame of Souls. You'll lose the special flame color if you die, but you can reclaim it from your ship's lanterns.
4. At Shipwreck Bay, light eight braziers.
On your way to Shipwreck Bay, you'll be logging some nautical kilometers once more. It, like the others, is shrouded in ominous fog, so proceed with caution—not it's called Shipwreck Bay for nothing. When you land on the beach, you'll notice apparitions pointing in various directions. They're escorting you to the eight braziers that require the Flame of Souls to kindle. Knowing that all eight of these braziers are on the island's outer circumference and using the ghosts' advice makes finding the braziers a breeze.
Flameheart's ghostly servants will assault and torment you every time you ignite a brazier. Fight back and keep going until all eight braziers on the island are lit. When you're done, head to the Blackwytche Wreck, a must-see shipwreck in the island's core. Look for the homemade brazier that has been spun out of a cage and is suspended near some cannons. After you've lighted the other eight, light this brazier (you won't be able to do it any sooner, so you'll know when it's time).
This will start a boss fight with the Soulflame Captain. He's a tough boss, but firebombs and gunfire are the best ways to deal with him. Allowing him to come too close is dangerous, as his melee assault is powerful. He'll bring additional phantoms with him, and you should deal with them in the same way. They're easily dispatched by firebombs, but beware of their teleporting assault. You'll be fine if you just keep moving.
5. Return the loot to Belle after following the Buried Relic Map.
After defeating the Soulflame Captain and his henchmen, you'll receive the Buried Relic Map, an X-marks-the-spot quest that will take you to a neighboring island in the Wilds. It directed me to Marauder's Arch in my case, but this could be random, so pay attention to where your map directs you.
Go to the required island and dig up the Hexing Skull as special loot. Keep it in good condition and return it to Belle on Crescent Isle. You can also sell any special loot you found during your combat with the phantoms to Belle, such as Rune Tablets. Turn it into her and choose the option to conclude the adventure dialogue. That concludes our discussion. You'll have finished the first limited-time Adventure and received the Shrouded Compass cosmetic as well as a new title, "Seeker of Shrouded Souls."
