Lost Ark: How to fix the Disk Write Error

Lost Ark is attracting a large number of new players. To help ease the burden on servers, the engineers had to establish an entirely new area for Central Europe. With that type of popularity, the game is bound to have a slew of troubles when it launches. Some of these flaws may be unique to Ark: Survival Evolved, but many will be issues that Steam users are already familiar with.

When players see a Disk Write Error while downloading or installing Lost Ark updates, the issue is usually with Steam rather than the game. The first answer, like with most computer difficulties, is to switch it off and on again. It may seem self-evident, yet it works more often than you might expect.

Delete the Download Cache

If rebooting does not resolve the issue, the next step is to delete the download cache in Steam's settings. This can be accomplished by:

1. Click Steam in the lop left of the window.
2. Open the Settings window.
3. Go to the Downloads tab.
4. Click “Clear Download Cache.”
5. Select OK.

If you have other downloads going on, don't do this because it will cause Steam to reboot. Try redownloading Lost Ark once you've logged back into Steam.

Change Your Firewall Settings

If this doesn't work, your firewall or anti-virus settings may be the issue. You may need to make an exception in your computer's settings for either Steam or Lost Ark, or you can run Steam as an Administrator, which will completely circumvent these issues.

Change Where Steam Saves Games

If you have numerous storage drives, it's conceivable that Steam is attempting to save the game data to a Read-Only drive. This is a rare occurrence, but it can occur, especially if you've recently installed a new hard drive. To correct this, follow these steps:

• Open the Downloads menu in the Steam window as described previously.
• Select Steam Library Folders from the drop-down menu. This will show you where Steam is installed by default.
• To create a new path to the drive where you want future installations to go, click the "Add Library Folder" icon. Ascertain that his path is on a drive with Read/Write access.
• Once this route has been defined, select "Make Default" from the "..." menu to make it the default installation path for future downloads.
