Lost Ark: How to unlock Excavating
Excavating is one of the six Trade Skills you'll learn as you progress through Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Trade Skills are how you get some of the many materials you'll need if you want to make a dent in crafting, especially if you're seeking to upgrade or sell your equipment to other people. However, you won't be able to use these abilities right away. Here's everything you need to know about unlocking Excavating in Ark: Survival Evolved.
You'll only be able to use them once you've reached West Luterra, just like the rest of the Trade Skills in Lost Ark. Make your way to Lake bar while you're in this area, and you'll eventually obtain the mission Crown of Lake bar. After finishing the mission, your character gains access to all six Trade Skills, including Excavating.
However, before you can begin using it, you must first purchase your Novice Excavating Tools from the NPC Nickel in Lakebar Village. You won't be able to use this skill while exploring the game until you have those tools.
After you've obtained your tools, press the B key on your keyboard to access the Trade Skill menu, which replaces your Combat Abilities on your Hotbar with Trade Skill abilities. Relic Search and Sonar are the two talents you'll be using the most when excavating.
Before you start excavating for Relics, make sure you check the world map to see if the region has any Relics. If it does, activate your Sonar, which will show as a small blue icon above your character. The icon will emit little blue waves as you approach concealed Relics, signaling that you're getting closer.
Use Relic Search to locate it when you're close by. You'll see a precise area where you dug up a Relic and added it to your inventory using Relic Search.
