Elden Ring: How to beat Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing

Sir Gideon Ofnir may be on a journey for knowledge, but that won't stop him from trying to stop you from becoming the Elden Lord. You'll have to combat Gideon as you march through the capital city, which is now buried in ash. He knows a lot of spells, so be prepared. Sir Gideon’s attacks

Sir Gideon has a wide range of spells under his belt. It's not for nothing that he's known as the All-Knowing. This is a list of all the attacks you should be aware of when fighting with this boss.

• Switft Glintstone Shard – Gideon will fire out a glintstone shard. This is a straightforward attack that can be readily avoided.
• Glintblade - Gideon will envelop himself in glintblades that will shoot at you after a brief period of time.
• Discus of Light – Gideon throws out three discs of light in a fan motion that comes back after a short while.
• Rykard's Rancor - Gideon fires a crimson skull that hits you or an object and causes damage in an AOE.
• Comet Azure – Gideon shoots a huge beam of electricity that can rip your HP apart if you get caught in it.
• Black Flame Ritual – Gideon spawns a bunch of flame pillars.
• Bloodboon – Gideon will slash with a bloody flame that will inflict bleed damage if it hits.
• Scarlet Aeonia - Gideon leaps into the air and slams his fist into the ground, forcing a flower to bleed and spreading Scarlet Rot to everyone nearby.

How to beat Sir Gideon

Sir Gideon's attacks are formidable, but they are readily disrupted. Heavy attacks can be used to disrupt spells like Black Flame Ritual and Comet Azure, which take longer to cast. Melee strikes will be able to throw him off frequently, and heavy jump attacks will stun him for the crucial critical attacks. Keep your wits about you and escape strikes from AOEs such as Scarlet Aeonia and Rykard's Rancor.

Gideon may be more difficult to deal with for ranged attackers. Unless he is distracted by a summon, he moves often and may readily evade spells. Melee spells are very effective against him. Choose a spirit that moves quickly and hits hard, such as Bloodhound Floh, when summoning one. Bleed damage is simple to apply to Gideon, and having a summon that deals with bleed damage is extremely handy.
