Elden Ring: Should you open Patches’ second chest?

If you accept Patches' surrender and forgive and forget in Elden Ring (which we think you should), he'll become a merchant from whom you can purchase, sell, and ask him questions about specific topics. "About the bandits" is the first question you can ask Patches, and he will react by babbling on about the robbers in Murkwater Cave.

You'll be able to question about "That chest..." once he stops talking. He'll recognize that you're curious about what's inside the treasure chest and explain that it's nothing remarkable, simply something he's saving as a thank you to a very important customer. Is he referring to you? When you opened his first chest, he attacked you, but does Patches' second chest have a prize for saving his life?

It doesn't work that way. If you don't want to be teleported to the other side of Limgrave, don't open Patches' second chest. The box contains a Transporter Trap, which transports you to Limgrave East, southeast of the Mistwood Outskirts Site of Grace. You'll get a message notifying you that you can't fast travel until you've rested at a Site of Grace if you try to do so after being caught in the trap.

As previously stated, the closest Site of Grace is the Mistwood Outskirts one, which is easily accessible by road to the northwest. If you return to Patches after falling into his trap, he will be surprised that you are still alive, but he will continue to trade with you as usual.
