Elden Ring: What does the red square by the health bar mean?

If you've been playing Elden Ring for a time, you've most likely come across Roundtable Hold. This calm region serves as a gathering point and a safe haven, a place where you can't even use your weapons. You could see a little red square with a downward-pointing arrow beneath your health bar after exploring the Hold and conversing with the various NPCs. What could it possibly be?

The bad news is that the small icon represents a health debuff you've acquired, which reduces your overall HP by 5%. You'll receive Baldachin's Blessing if you let Fia, the Deathbed Companion, hold you, but at the penalty of contracting this uncomfortable debuff.

The good news is that removing this HP debuff is quite simple. Simply utilize the Baldachin's Blessing from your inventory to complete the task. It uses FP to momentarily increase your poise, making it easier to take strong attacks without being stunned, and your HP will return after the buff wears off. If you decide the debuff isn't worth it, simply return to Fia to obtain another Baldachin's Blessing.

Fia has lots of secrets of her own to discover in Elden Ring, including a questline with the mysterious D, so make sure to keep up with our coverage so you don't miss out.
