Elden Ring: What happens when you kill every Merchant?
Ring players in Elden have the ability to kill any NPC in the game, including major characters. Here's what happens if you kill all of the Merchants in the FromSoftware game. Elden Ring, although having a large open-world setting, retains many of the Dark Souls franchise's key characteristics. The ability for users to harm any NPC in the game's story is one of them.
Devious players who want to slay anyone who comes near them might be curious what happens if you kill Merchants. The following are the ramifications of killing the wandering salesman.
Can you kill Merchants in Elden Ring?
Merchant Kale, who you meet at the Church of Elleh in Limgrave, is one of the first persons you meet in Elden Ring. The NPC, who has a Santa Clause-like appearance, is a salesman that will give you stuff in return for runes.
Characters like these could be slain in previous Dark Souls games, but doing so sometimes resulted in grave penalties such as being locked out of stores or losing access to unique equipment for the rest of the game. FromSoftware looks to have not only largely omitted any bad effects in Elden Ring, but it may even be advantageous.
Each time you kill one of the NPCs, you'll receive a rare Bell Bearing, which you can trade with the Twin Maiden Husks at the Round Table for more. This will allow you to access the Merchant's inventory. "Having all of the Merchants stuff purchasable from one easy-to-access spot beats trying to note where each Merchant is on the map," YouTuber Boomstick Gaming' explained after testing the functionality.
Killing Merchants will basically give you an entire shop in the Roundtable Hold, which players will visit frequently and may access immediately if opened. There are around 11 Merchants to be found in the Lands Between. It's worth noting that just because there aren't any known negative repercussions at the time of writing doesn't mean there aren't any. Because Elden Ring is such a large game, people may eventually discover something it affects. However, it appears to be generally beneficial for the time being.
