How to transfer your Grand Theft Auto Online save to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

With Grand Theft Auto Online finally making the leap to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, you'll undoubtedly want to carry over the years of progress you've achieved to this point. When you decide to make the leap, you can take all of the money you've earned in-game, as well as the cars and homes you've acquired, your experience, and more. Here's how to get your Grand Theft Auto Online to save onto your PlayStation 5 or Xbox One X.

Fortunately, transferring your GTA Online character to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game is a breeze. All you need is a Rockstar Social Club account to get started. Go to your profile settings after logging in to the website. When you click Linked Accounts, you'll see a list of all the places your Rockstar account is linked to. Link your PlayStation or Xbox accounts if you don't see them.

Once you've linked your accounts, you'll be ready to play when the next-gen edition of Grand Theft Auto Online launches on March 15. If you have numerous accounts to link, the game should let you choose which ones to keep, but we'll update this tutorial once we have more information about the in-game process.

You can move your character from either the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X when making the transfer. Your character, progression, weapons, clothing, automobiles, properties, created jobs, and in-game earned money are all included in the stuff that will travel with you. Any GTA$ you bought with actual money will be lost if you transfer platforms.

For example, if you recently purchased a Megalodon card on Xbox One and now own a PlayStation 5, your Megalodon card will not be transferable. However, you may use that GTA$ to buy goods in the Xbox One version, which will carry over to the PS5. If you upgrade from Xbox One to Xbox Series X, your real-world purchases will be carried over. Unfortunately, transfers are not possible on the PC version of the game.
