Samsung Galaxy A53: Release date, Price, Specifications, and everything you need to know

Samsung is launching a new line of Galaxy A phones on March 17, but one of the devices we'll likely see there has already gone on sale and appears to be a viable competitor to the iPhone SE 3. Despite the fact that it has yet to be officially launched, the Samsung Galaxy A53 is already available for purchase in Kenya, Vietnam, and Serbia. Because of its limited availability, you won't be able to find it in your local phone store just yet, but it does mean that we know exactly what features the smartphone has.

A 6.52-inch screen, the yet-to-be-announced Exynos 1200 chipset, a 4,500mAh battery, a 64-megapixel primary camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 5-megapixel macro camera, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor are among the features. A 32MP front-facing camera, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and 5G capability are all listed as features of the Samsung Galaxy A53.

On paper, those sound like a decent mid-range set of features, and the phone is likely to be inexpensive, with a price of KSH 45,500 (about $400 / £300 / AU$550) in Kenya. Although price conversions will not be exact, it is possible that it will come close.

As you'd imagine, the Galaxy A53 is significantly cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S22, but it still has a quad-lens camera, a reasonable amount of RAM, and 5G, so it could be a nice option for budget-conscious shoppers.

For those who prefer an Android phone, the Samsung Galaxy A53 could be a viable alternative to the iPhone SE 3. The iPhone SE 3 starts at $429 / £419 / AU$719. Based on the figures above, it's likely to cost a comparable amount, if not somewhat less.

Although Apple's phone has a speedier chipset, it only has one rear camera, a presumably smaller battery, less RAM, a more archaic appearance, and half the storage space in its starting size. There's also a little screen on it (which could be a good or bad thing depending on what you want).

The Samsung Galaxy A53 will not appeal to aficionados of tiny phones in the same way as the iPhone SE 3 will, but both handsets have decent specs, 5G, and a mid-range price, so they might be serious competitors on that front.
