Xbox: How to change your profile picture with a custom gamerpic

Users of smartphones, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles, and Windows PCs can upload any photo to their Xbox Live profile, which is visible to everyone. Of course, typical community norms apply (and photographs are approved by Microsoft's system before going online). Xbox Live users could only express themselves in a limited way until recently, with no personalized avatar poses or pre-set photographs. Thankfully, Microsoft has now enabled the ability to upload your own avatar to the Xbox Live network as a whole.

Here's how to make your own Xbox gamerpic on consoles, mobile devices, and PCs running Windows 10 and Windows 11. The most convenient technique is without a doubt using a smartphone, but there are alternative options if you don't have one.

How to create a custom Xbox gamerpic on your Xbox console

To set the picture on your console, you'll need a USB stick or another USB external storage device. Simply insert the USB stick into the console and save your photo someplace on it. The image must have a resolution of 1080 by 1080 pixels. You can find instructions for doing so below.

1. By hitting the Xbox button on your controller, you can access the guide menu.
2. Navigate to the Profile & System section with the joystick.
3. Select your profile with the "A" button, and then hit "My profile" in the following pop-up.
4. Select Customize profile with the joystick and the "A" button.
5. Change the gamerpic by clicking on it.
6. Choose Upload a custom picture from the drop-down menu.
7. After that, you'll be sent to the Xbox File Picker software.
8. Using the hamburger menu in the top left, navigate to the USB stick symbol.
9. Using the "A" button and the joystick, navigate to the image you want to utilize.
10. Select Upload when you're finished. Microsoft will verify the image, and you'll be ready to go in about two minutes.

How to use Windows 10 or 11 to make a custom Xbox gamerpic

1. On your Windows 10 or 11 PC, open the Xbox Console Companion software (not the "Xbox" app you use for Xbox Game Pass). (The quickest approach is to type "Xbox console" into the Start menu or look for it in the Microsoft Store for Windows 10.)
2. In the top left-hand corner, select your Profile. (With your current gamerpic, it will be a circle.)
3. To edit your gamerpic, simply click on it.
4. Select Select a unique image.
5. Choose Upload a custom picture from the drop-down menu.
6. Select your file after searching for it.
7. Crop the image with the mouse into the circle, then hit upload.
