Tunic: How to defeat the Boss Scavenger

If you're not prepared, the Boss Scavenger, oh, boss fight, can be a major hurdle. He's not about to give up the all-important seal without a fight. You can win this as well if you've made it through the Quarry and Ziggurat to reach the combat. Here's how to do it.

Block frequently, first and foremost. You'll need to do it here more than everywhere else, so be ready to raise your shield at any time. The Boss Scavenger likes to use his gigantic shield-sword hybrid weapon and swipe at you in multi-hit combos, but you'll be able to withstand it if you're locked on and blocking.

He can also charge forward with a single slash, which you can avoid with a side roll. You'll also have to roll through his wave attack. He'll create a shockwave by piercing the ground with his blade. To avoid damage, roll over the glowing white area.

This boss can also utilize his pistol and explosives from a distance. The arena's barrels will shield you from gunfire, but the grenades will drive you to move out of cover to dodge the blast. If you see him lift the pistol, you should be prepared to stop the shot. Generally speaking, you should keep your shield up throughout the encounter.

Of course, this involves keeping an eye on your stamina — if you need to keep that meter ticking, bite on some Ivy. When the Boss Scavenger raises his own shield, don't bother assaulting him. Otherwise, be aware of his numerous attacks and wait for an opportunity to retaliate. This is a difficult battle, but one that can be won.
