Tunic: How to sleep and why you should

The world begins to open up once you've obtained the sword in Tunic and are able to do some landscaping on the bushes. The abandoned house will most likely be one of the first sights you see. It's a simple small house, but it houses a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture: a bed.

Tunic does not have a consistent night/day cycle, so the presence of a bed may be perplexing. The fact that you can sleep in it adds to the confusion. Because the fox statues refill your health and resources, it appears that taking a nap in the middle of your quest would be pointless. The true purpose of this mechanic isn't revealed until later in the game when we've entered the spoiler zone. So, if you're attempting to avoid them, this is where you should start.

After obtaining the three keys, you can engage in combat with "The Heir." Although you can defeat them and earn a horrible ending, death is the most likely conclusion of your first encounter. Unlike other deaths, this one returns you to the beach where you began, stripped of your upgrades, and the world has darkened and become more gloomy.

Nighttime in Tunic changes the world, in addition to the omnipresent spookiness. A purple mist surrounds specific regions, preventing opponents from roaming freely. You'll also discover that the Old Burying Ground is accessible. Your goal is to reclaim your power, but even if you succeed and defeat The Heir in a rematch, you'll be given a horrible ending.

To have a happy ending, you must find the remaining instruction booklet pieces, which require escaping the twilight. This is where the bed enters the picture. You'll be returned to daylight after a little nap here. This allows you to go back in time and search prior regions as if you were still in your corporeal form.

Returning to bed and having another sleep will turn the world back tonight, and cycling between the two is required to uncover all of the globe's secrets.
