While it may take a few extra steps, you'll be able to build a lobby for yourself, and possibly a friend or two if you want to pull them into the fray, so you can explore the world of Los Santos without worrying about someone with remote explosives blowing up your new ride. You'll be able to do this in a few different ways, one of which requires ownership of the main game and a few other alternatives if you simply have the Online version. If you possess Grand Theft Auto V Story Mode, you may go to Options > Online > Invite Only Session or even Solo Session, which will give you complete control over the environment you're in. If you own Grand Theft Auto Online, there is currently no way to do this, which is a pity.

If you're online, though, you can enable Passive Mode, which prevents other players from running into you, shooting you, or harming you in any way. As a result, you'll still be able to join a server with other players and observe their antics while remaining secure yourself. To do so, open the Interaction Menu and select Enable Passive Mode from the drop-down menu. However, you won't be able to join the MC as a CEO or President, therefore you won't be able to earn any extra cash in this mode.

If you're getting griefed a lot, you may try switching servers to see if the players are more relaxed there, although it's difficult to find one that doesn't have at least one griefer on it. To do so, simply go to the Options Menu, pick Online, and then Find New Session. You'll be placed in a fresh Session with new players, and perhaps you'll be able to locate a group that isn't full of lunatics.

It's as simple as that! If you're dead set on playing a game with just your pals, you'll need to buy the Story Mode for New Generation systems like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but if you already have them, that's the only way to get into a Solo or Invite Only lobby.
