MLB The Show 22: How Moonshot event works, rewards, and more

Diamond Dynasty is kept fresh by rotating material on MLB The Show. Events are three-inning games in which you must use a different lineup each time. We're here to walk you through one of MLB The Show's most popular events: the Moonshot. Moonshot is all about celebrating power swingers by smashing the ball around, as the name implies. Thankfully, you'll have little trouble doing so because you're only allowed to employ common pitchers with a 64 OVR and can use any hitter in the game. This event, more than any other, will put your hitting talents to the test. Instead of worrying about whether you'll be able to score runs, you'll have to hope that you'll be able to score even more than your opponent.

On the batting side, you want to search for players that have above-average power or contact. If you put these guys in your lineup, you'll have the best chance of hitting a home run when you hit the ball. It's critical not to become overconfident as a batter. Yes, you have a great chance to hit a home run or hit a double, but this is still baseball, and nothing is guaranteed. Make sure you're still waiting for pitches you're ready for and that you're not chasing things you can't reach. When facing left-handed pitchers, you should use Face of the Franchise cards like Ronald Acuna Jr., Mitch Hanigar, and Carson Kelly. Mike Trout, Rafel Devers, and Joey Votto all have batting averages of over 100 when facing right-handed pitchers. If you have top-tier cards like Frank Thomas from the Awards Series, he'll do well against either hand.

It's critical to remember to keep cool and follow proper throwing etiquette as a pitcher. The most crucial thing to remember is to keep your breaking balls away from the zone, as the majority of them will most likely be thrown into space. Your best bet is to try to jam the batter as much as possible, alternating high and low inside the strike zone in one at-bat. The next at-bat, move to the outfield. It's crucial to keep the ball away from a hitter who is expecting to hit a home run. Make the most of the fact that most players will be ready to swing by using your first few pitches to see how far outside the zone they can go.

HR/9 is the most important figure for pitchers in this tournament, as just two starting pitchers who are eligible have more than 70 HR/9. Khol Stewart, a free agent, and Mitch Keller, a Pirates starter. Thankfully, excellent HR/9 is more prevalent among relievers, as Texas Rangers reliever Brett Martin demonstrates.
