Pokémon Go: How the Kanto Cup works

Aside from the normal PvP cups in Pokémon Go, a few new ones exist to offer players a unique experience. These cups illustrate the limitations you'll have to overcome in order to assemble an amazing team capable of defeating your opponents while using Pokémon you wouldn't ordinarily use in battle. The Kanto Cup is a good illustration of this, as you'll only have a restricted number of Pokémon to choose from. Here's all you need to know about Pokémon Go's Kanto Cup.

You will be able to employ Pokémon that only exist in the Kanto area in the Kanto Cup. Because the Kanto region is the first in the Pokémon series, you'll only be able to use Pokémon from the first generation. However, there is a small exception, such as the Alolan variants of those Pokémon. You can utilize Alolan Golem or Alolan Marowak, for example, because both of these original Pokémon were found in the Kanto area.

You'll only be able to use Pokémon from the Kanto area, and you'll only be able to use Pokémon with a maximum of 1,500 CP. Any Pokémon with a level higher than this will be ineligible for this competition. We recommend Lickitung, Nidoqueen, Chansey, Pidgeot, Alolan Sandslash, Hypno, Snorlax, Lapras, or Beedrill as reliable alternatives for this competition. These are some of the most effective alternatives we've seen in these competitions, but you'll need to put together a team of three Pokémon to take on your opponent. When putting together your squad, try to build around these Pokémon or keep them in mind.
