Sea of Thieves: Where to find the Prison Cell Key
In Sea of Thieves, after clearing a Sea Fort, there will be several trinkets to find throughout the stronghold. The Captain of the Fortress drops a Treasury Key and a Store Room Key at random for each session, so there are doors to unlock and treasure to claim. However, one door that couldn't be unlocked originally perplexed players: a jail cell to the right of the Treasury, with a popup saying that it requires a Prison Cell Key to unlock. There is a clear solution that includes beating a Phantom Jailor adversary as of the debut of the Forts of the Forgotten Adventure.
The Phantom Jailor will spawn on an active Fort, though we've discovered certain Forts where the Jail Cell was previously open and did not correctly reset during our playthroughs. In a typical situation, the Phantom Jailor will fight alongside the regular Phantoms and, eventually, the Fortress Captain. In a Fort battle, the Phantom Jailor is by far the most resilient and troublesome enemy.
After you attack it, it will teleport away, and it possesses a special lunge move that deals a lot of damage. By the time you're fighting the final wave of Phantoms and their Captain (at least on a solo run), you should have whittled down its health. When you defeat the Phantom Jailor, he will drop the Prison Cell Key, which you can use to free the prisoners from the Golden Sands Outpost. There's an Enchantment Vessel on the floor that you can bring to Belle. This can be done even after the Forts of the Forgotten Adventure, which concludes on April 7, has ended. Once the event is over, this guide will be updated.
