Between now through the 26th, Borderlands 3 is available for free on Epic Games. It's a great game to spend your time with, especially if you get a few people together and play collaboratively. The cherry on top is that it currently supports crossplay across PC and Xbox platforms (and soon PlayStation). Does this indicate that if you progressed on another platform, you'll be able to proceed in Borderlands 3? We'll respond with everything we know.

Does Borderlands 3 Have Cross-Progression?

You will not be able to switch from a console to a PC account. Borderlands games do not save your data on the server, thus you won't be able to transfer your progress from PlayStation or Xbox to PC. However, if you were playing the game on Steam and would like to switch to Epic, you can do so. You're save data is saved at Documents/MyGames/Borderlands 3/Saved/SaveGames. From there, you can simply take your files in that SaveGames folder and bring them on over to the install path from the other.

Creating a Character Data Backup

Grinding for specialized gear in Borderlands 3 is a time-consuming process. There is a workaround, albeit it will be slow because you must bring your character data from the console to the PC. The simplest option is to use the trading system to transfer your character's equipment from console to PC. You may also simply dump all of the stuff you're using for your console character's build and have your PC character pick them up. Crossplay is the only way this is feasible.

The sole restriction is that if your PC character isn't at the level where you ground these goods, he or she may not be allowed to use the gear. Borderlands 3 currently only supports crossplay between Xbox One, Xbox 360, Steam, and Epic Games. When the feature is released for PlayStation 4 and 5, you'll be able to trade your characters' goods to a PC save.
