Visa Credit and Debit Card Issues Reported By Customers unable to make payments
According to the website Down Detector, thousands of users have reported problems using their Visa credit and debit cards to make transactions and payments on Saturday. The first reports came just before 1:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, and at approximately 3:38 p.m., the website got a peak of 1,212 consumers reporting issues. According to the website, the areas of New York and New Jersey are the ones that are seeing the most issues.
Customers in other large urban regions, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, DC, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix, and Atlanta, have reported experiencing problems. According to the website, making purchases was involved in over 80 percent of the issues that customers had. Patch's message to Visa was not immediately responded to by the company.
In addition, Downdetector received a large number of reports from Mastercard customers who were having difficulties using their cards. However, Mastercard later stated that their network was functioning fine.
