Escape From Tarkov: How to Tell AI Scavs from Players

It can be difficult to tell allies from opponents in Escape From Tarkov. You just have a few seconds to determine whether the person in front of you is attempting to end your life or is attempting to assist you, and there are few means to determine who is who. Even worse is being in the middle of a fight with someone and trying to figure out if the person in your sights is a buddy flanking you or an enemy approaching you. Let's look at how to detect if you're dealing with a player or an AI in Escape From Tarkov.

How to Tell if Someone is a Player or AI in Escape From Tarkov

Once you've joined a raid with your pals, it's critical that you don't mistake them for AI and mistakenly shoot them. When playing as a Scav, it's also crucial to be able to distinguish AI from players, as damaging an AI Scav will brand you as hostile to all other Scavs within a broad radius. In fact, distinguishing an AI from a player can be difficult. You'll be able to identify them distinct mostly by their movement and position.

In general, AI Scavs will only be found in specified places and will not go far from their spawn point. This means that anyone you meet outside of these locations is almost certainly a real player. But what do you do if you come across someone who appears to be an AI but you aren't sure whether they are one? Simply observe their movements from afar. AI typically moves in straight lines and does not look around.

Most players will rotate their heads as they move about Tarkove, but AI will usually maintain looking in the same direction they did when they first started moving.
