My Time at Sandrock: How to Upgrade the Workbench

Players are progressively working toward a completely enhanced builder's workshop in My Time at Sandrock, which went into early access on May 26. One of the most important tools in the game is the workbench, which must be upgraded in order to progress. Although updating the workbench is buried and not as clearly stated as some other items, the game does a good job of explaining how players can make things. You'll have to go into the workbench itself to enhance it rather than going to Qi for research or the Commerce Guild for a recipe.

Upgrading the Workbench in My Time at Sandrock

Following are the steps to upgrade the Workbench in My Time at Sandrock:
  • To upgrade your workbench, go to the tab that looks like an upload button. It will then show you all of the materials you'll need to complete the improvement.
  • When you hover your cursor over an item in the materials list, it will indicate where you can make or buy it. Both of these locations are highlighted in the graphic below.
  • Some of the items require machines earned through Qi's research, while others can be purchased or obtained from one of the game's early machines.
  • As you expand your workshop, obtaining resources will become increasingly challenging. You'll want to investigate as much as you can from Qi as often as you can to keep up with the improvements.
  • The mines produce a large number of data discs, far more than you'll need to save until you unlock more items to investigate.
  • Start working on upgrade materials as soon as possible, especially if you have an idle machine that could be creating material for your workbench upgrade.
You'll need the new workbench sooner than you think, so remember to gather the resources needed to improve it. You should always be one step ahead of the competition if you keep this in mind.
