No Man’s Sky: How to find your Starship and absorb your first Memory Fragments
Many No Man's Sky players may find the new Leviathan Expedition to be a new challenge, as the game's level has been increased to permadeath Survival Mode. It is, however, a vital feature of the Expedition's new time-loop gameplay, in which death can help you unlock new secrets, but it also makes things a lot more treacherous when you're just starting out, so here's how to navigate through Leviathan's early stages without too much problem. For those new to Expeditions, you'll need to start a new Community Expedition game to access this additional content, which will last six weeks.
How to find your Starship in No Man’s Sky Leviathan Expedition
You'll spawn on a hot and hazardous planet, with only a few items in your inventory, and you'll want to go back to your spacecraft as soon as possible, which is also your first quest. The black and white Starship icon can be found on your compass and HUD, just as in ordinary No Man's Sky gameplay, so make a beeline for it as quickly as possible.
You can collect various supplies along the road, such as Ferrite, Carbon, and Di-Hydrogen Crystals, which will come in help later but don't waste too much time because you're not well-equipped to last long. As this is a community-based adventure with everyone else playing inside the same constraints, you'll probably see a few more spacecraft in the same area as you get closer, so just make sure you follow your own marker all the way to the right cockpit.
How to absorb Memory Fragments in No Man’s Sky Leviathan Expedition
'Retrieve a Past Life,' your next mission, requires you to ingest a Memory Fragment, one of Leviathan's newest and most crucial ingredients. These unlock technologies that you can use to upgrade your gear, and they'll likely get better with each (hopefully advanced) game, so they're an important part of the Expedition. Fortunately, you already have one in your Exosuit inventory, so open it up, click on the Memory Fragment to absorb the memory and unlock the technology, and then install your new upgrade into an empty slot.
Because the object itself may alter from one outing to the next, a standard Coolant Network for your suit isn't going to cut it. Don't forget to head into the Expedition menu to collect your prizes after each step (and each playthrough), as they may contain additional Memory Fragments to beef up your loadout. With these foundations in place, the next step is to repair your Starship, with the needed Hermetic Seal requiring a severe method to unlock its blueprint and the Iterate/Repeat objective requiring you to die. This will lead you back to the beginning, where you will repeat the same steps again (and over), with a few enhancements each time.
