Salt and Sacrifice: How to beat Ekriks Graycloud, The Precipice of Chaos
Mages can be found in Ashbourne Village in Salt and Sacrifice. Arzhan-Tin Celus Zend, the Ceaseless Fury, employs fire magic. Ekriks Graycloud casts ice during the Mourning Winter. It's all about electricity in The Precipice of Chaos. He'll most likely be the last of the elemental trio to confront you, and he's no slouch. Here's how to combat him without getting cooked in the process.
First and foremost, this battle will have a lot of yellow on the screen. It can be difficult to keep track of everything that is going on, but understanding Ekriks' attacks is crucial to victory. He wields a sword like his other Mages, yet he attacks in a unique way. The initial swipe is easy to avoid, but whether you roll behind him or away from him, you must be on the lookout for the follow-up. He'll slam his sword into the ground, unleashing columns of lightning from the blade in both directions. Before you can safely attack him back, you'll have to go through these as well.
Outside of the sword combo, he can send the lightning columns at any point along with the arena, so be prepared to roll through them. He also has two types of electric orb attacks. The first is a pair that hovers around him and shoots out intermittent sparks over a large region. It's conceivable to find a secure location beneath them and attack, but it's preferable to simply back off for a time. The other orb will approach you before exploding into three tiny sparks. Be prepared to avoid the secondary sparks whether you block the spell or roll through it.
Ekriks Graycloud enjoys generating electricity in the arena, but once you've dealt enough damage, he'll succumb just like everyone else. Avoid his attacks by dancing around them, healing frequencies, and attacking whenever you can. You'll eventually sever this Mage's current.
