V Rising: How to find and beat Vincent the Frostbringer

Take on Vincent the Frostbringer, a formidable guard from Dunley Farmlands, if you want to stock your fortress with prison cells. Defeating him, on the other hand, poses a few unique obstacles that do not apply to many of the other V Rising bosses. Vincent's lack of a fixed place is the source of the majority of his problems. Instead, he and a couple of guards cautiously patrol the routes around the Haunted Iron Mines. This means you're always at risk of encountering other adversaries (or, worse, bosses) who will complicate the issue. You might even lose track of Vincent and have to return to your Blood Altar before you can follow his V Blood again in rare situations.

Where to find Vincent

Vincent may generally be seen patrolling the roads in the southern part of Dunley Farmlands, in the area depicted above. We recommend achieving a Gear Score of at least 40 before going there. To avoid a messy boss encounter, attempt to wipe out as many adjacent patrols and aggressive creatures as possible as you approach the area. You can't ensure you won't be interrupted, but you can at least enhance your chances.

How to defeat Vincent

Vincent's kit focuses on providing cold damage, and the majority of his strikes will slow or even stop you in your tracks. His ranged attack, which fires multiple ice projectiles in a cone in front of him, is the most dangerous in his arsenal. These have a long windup but will freeze you for a few seconds before Vincent uses a shield bash on you. Keep your movement ability off cooldown until you see this attack, but if you're lucky enough to fight Vincent near some environmental cover, you can utilize it as well.

Vincent possesses several shield bash attacks, as well as a two-swing combo with his morningstar, in addition to this move. The two-swing combo isn't too difficult, and it provides you with a decent opening thereafter, especially if you have a gap-closing weapon skill. Shield bashes are more of an issue because they lead him to dash forward and are frequently utilized in sequence. However, after you've mastered their animation, a simple side strafe is generally enough to keep them at bay.
